There is a moment in John Huston’s spy film, when Humphrey Bogart visits a Japanese theatre in Panama. He’s watching a silent film but there’s no clue about it apart from few scenes that are seen in the above images (any help?). We can also see a film poster in the theatre’s lobby but it’s not relevant with the film shown. It’s a Japanese poster of American silent film Merry-Go-Round (1923) which was originally directed by Erich von Stroheim who was fired and replaced by Rupert Julian.
Images from John Huston’s Across the Pacific (1942).
