Near the end of the film, wasted Simon Pegg is being disturbed by loud screams heard from TV. He’s watching Mario Bava’s The Three Faces of Fear (aka Black Sabbath) (1963).
Few moments later, he stumbles upon a b/w film that stars his mother who is supposed to be an old actress. He actually watches Mario Zampi’s Now and Forever (1956).
Finally, the sweet ending of the film happens in an open air screening of Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita (1960).
