Young starlet Peggy Peppet (Marion Davies) wants to stay in the theatre after the preview of her film. She’s watching a drama which considers it as “real art”, expressing her wishes to make similar films – but William Haines disagrees. The clip shown is from a film that King Vidor had made two years ago, Bardelys the Magnificent, which was considered lost until 2006 when a nearly complete print was found in France. Before that print, Bardely’s trailer and this scene were the only visual proofs of its existence.
